Inspiration Source

Lisa Dickinson: This colorful art print inspired me to create a similar background for a scrapbook page, using punched squares of patterned paper from the new BG Capture and Mon Ami collections.

I used a piece of kraft card stock cut to 8.5″x9.5″ as a base, and adhered squares to cover it.

My title is a mix of a die cut word and the new chipboard letters, which resemble Scrabble pieces.

Since some of the squares in the Blueprint appear to be raised, I used foam adhesive to pop up some of the squares on my page. I added some small chipboard pieces to further embellish the background and add even more touches of dimension.

Lisa Dickinson: The intense colors of the Highline collection are perfect for documenting all the love in your life this February! I layered several of the bold and colorful patterned papers on this layout that records the love and gratitude I have for my two kids.

To accent the layered photo matte, I used one of the wood die cut hearts as a template for my stitching on the upper right, and to accent my title on the lower left.

The die cut title “love” coordinates perfectly with the brush script trend that is reflected in many of the Highline papers. I cut if from both black and white card stock and layered them together for a shadowed effect. The die cut (and a bonus heart accent!) are available today as a free download from BasicGrey. If you arrange a selection of 2” circles, punched from a variety of Spice Market patterned papers (34 of them, to be exact), tuck in a few painted metal medallions, and wrap up the design with machine-sewn details, you’ll have a contemporary paper wreath as beautiful as the one Lisa Dickinson created here! What a wonderful foundation to her page, don’t you think?

Lisa tucked in a few transparency die cuts behind her title and we love how they’ve added a bit of color to the center design, but can been seen through to the layer underneath.

Lisa cut out the word “air” from her Silhouette and combined it with printed chipboard letters to create her bold, oversized title. We are so pleased to offer you this cutting file FREE! The zip file contains a pdf, .dxm and .svg files that are compatible with Silhouette, Boss Kut, Pazzle and other leading electronic die cutters that can read these file formats. The youthful, energetic style of our new Highline collection was the perfect choice for Lisa’s black and white photos and the page theme she chose. The brilliant orange, pink and yellow hues played up the adorable photos of her daughter, creating a vivid, refreshing page. How can you look at this layout and not smile?!

What makes Lisa’s page even more fresh and trendy is how she tilted the 12-square central design, framing the top and bottom angled edges with her journaling and a few well-placed Candy Dots. This same placement would work great with a nine-square or even a 16-square design.

Another great detail on Lisa’s page is that she used black thread to machine-sew a frame around the base of her layout. With just a few spools of color on hand, think of the many ways you could feature color on your next page just by adding some stitching.
