Today I am thrilled to be sharing a gorgeous Carte Postale album designed by the one and only Kelly Purkey! And to make your Friday even sweeter, we are giving away one of Simon Says Stamp’s June / July Project Kits that Miss KP designed herself!

Kelly: It really was love at first sight with the Basic Grey Capture line. I have a crazy sense of wanderlust, so any products that are made for documenting life on the go are right up my alley. The mini album was a snap to put together because it was already so well designed before I even added anything to it. The patterns, sayings, and details of the album are perfect and made it so easy to just start adhering things into. I created the album using pieces of a recent trip to New York City. I added in little pieces of memorabilia I had saved along with Instax photos. It really was easy to polish up the pages by adding in the stickers and tags from the Capture line.

The Capture sticky notes make journaling on the fly a breeze!

The blue alpha stickers fit perfectly into one of the speech bubbles found in the label stickers pack. The diagonal placement coming out from the globe is super fun, to boot!

For this spread, Kelly took one of the Carte Postale Snippets and turned it on it’s side to better accommodate the rectangular shape of the book – so smart! Don’t be afraid to customize products to best fit your needs; it’s the perfect way to inject your own personal style into everything you create!

I am such a fan of the way that Kelly glued a large piece of memorabilia directly onto one of the grid papers and didn’t worry about trimming it down to size. Sometimes a little overlap is a good thing!

Lots of label and alpha stickers, in addition to a handful of Snippets and Carte Postale acetate letters going on on this spread.

For the righthand page, Kelly cut out a ticket from the Mulholland Drive paper and used it as the backer for a business card, topped with a few stickers and sticky note. Well done, my friend.

Home: I currently live in Chicago, IL after spending the last four years in New York City. I live in a little neighborhood called Logan Square, chosen because it is just steps away from some of the best food in the city and not to mention my favorite cocktail bar.

Workspace: In this apartment I have a guest bedroom and have set up a long desk in there. It’s so nice to have a big area to work in and a huge desk, but for some reason I seem to scrap in the same tiny one foot by one foot space on it. The workspace in the photo is my old desk in New York City, as I haven’t gotten my new space all pretty’d up yet!

Favorite Color Palette: I use a combination of red, yellow, teal, gray the most.

Social Media Preference: Instagram! Follow me at @kellypurkey

Playlist: Lots of music, depending on my mood. Ingrid Michaelson, Greg Laswell, Sara Barellies at night and pop-ier artists like Macklemore, Vampire Weekend, Fun. lately during the day.

Inspiration Source: Pinterest is such a huge source of inspiration for me. I also continuously buy cookbooks and food magazines even though I don’t cook – the layout and design of some of them is really stellar.

Early Bird or Night Owl: Night owl! I love sleeping in. Way in.

BG Product You Hoard: Micromini alphas. Me love you long time.

Three Random Facts About You: 1.) I was student body president of my high school senior year. 2.) I love baseball and a couple summers ago I vowed to visit every MLB stadium. I’ve made it to 14 so far. 3.) When I was little I loved to play pretend and was an expert librarian.

Advice for Newbie Crafters: My best advice is to make it work for you! Don’t worry about what everyone else is doing or keeping up with anyone. Find your own niche and groove and style. That way it will always stay fun and enjoyable.

  1. Your style is very unique compared to other people I’ve read stuff from.

Thanks for posting when you’ve got the opportunity, Guess I’ll just bookmark this site.

  2. I was recommended this blog by my cousin. I am not sure whether this post is written by him as no one else know such detailed about my difficulty.
    You are amazing! Thanks!
