Carte Postale | Alexes Brown

Today we are so fortunate to have the super talented Alexes Brown here to share two beautiful layouts she made using Carte Postale! Here’s what she has to say:

Basic Grey | Carte Postale | Alexes Brown

Alexes: Hey Guys! It’s Alexes Brown and I’m really excited to be here on the BasicGrey Blog! I’m not going to lie, it’s kind of a dream come true! When Shara invited me to work with the Carte Postale line, I was thrilled and I’m here today to show you what I created. I usually don’t work with 8 1/2 x 11 but I thought I would try something new and lemme tell you, it was a blast! I’m a huge proponent of changing up the size your normally scrap with because it lets you be creative in a completely different way and it also keeps you from getting bored!

I really liked playing around with the grid format I used. All I did was slap my picture down and started creating different rows with all kinds of different embellishments. Super easy and I absolutely love the look of the colors with the kraft paper!

I left some room for journaling and then I was finished! I really love the way this page turned out! The Carte Postale line is perfect for traveling but it also lends itself very well to lifestyle scrapbooking.

For my second layout, I really wanted to try a new technique and as I was browsing through Pinterest I kept noticing all of the die cut pages with pattered paper behind and I thought I’d give it a try!

In my silhouette I took a star shape, made it a bunch of different sizes and then just started placing them in different areas on my page.

I picked out some of my very favorite papers from the Carte Postale line to use behind. After I had everything situated I glued my scraps down behind each star. I thought it needed a little extra texture so I took my sewing machine and stitched around my three biggest stars and voila! Thanks for stopping by!! Now go cut up some paper!

 A B O U T

Home: Home is technically Utah right now but my husband is about to graduate from Grad School in the next month and we’re still not sure where we will end up.
Workspace:: Don’t laugh but I create in a huge walk in closet! I’m not going to lie, I love it!
Favorite Color Palette: I’m addicted to teal, navy and white… If I could use it in every project, I totally would!
Social Media Preference: I love me some Instagram!! Follow me! @dearlexedesigns!
Playlist: Honestly I’m not a big music person… I’m not even sure where my ipod is lol
Inspiration Source: I love pinterest! I love browsing through all the different crafting boards! There’s always something that inspires me!
Early Bird or Night Owl: Ideally I’d like to be able to create in the afternoon but my kiddos keep me wayyy to busy! So it’s nighttime crafting for me, but I always get so sleepy!
BG Product You Hoard: I’m obsessed with mini things, so it would have to be the mini alphas, I want them all!!
Three Random Facts About You: 1.) I’m a horrible speller; chances are I’ve made a spelling error somewhere in this post! 2.) I’m a cancer survivor! Yay for being in remission! 3.) Remember that old Nickelodeon show called Double Dare, well yours truly was on it and I actually got slimed! Good times!
Advice for Newbie Crafters: Something that held me back for years was being to afraid to use my product! My new mantra is “Go Big or Go Home” use that product up! You’ll be happy you did, I promise!

  1. Another great project with the awesome Basic Grey collections! Came here from Tatertots & Jello and I also love the luggage tag project there using Basic Grey.

  2. I love the die-cut technique that you used for the second layout. I have seen this other places and have been thinking of trying it. After seeing this layout I am definitely going to give it a try! Thank you for the inspiration!

  3. 582. Photo Hoffmann, Munchen, Theresienstr, 74 Nachdruck verboten 5th August 1936 Isn’t this a lovely picture? They sell dozens of picture pcs of Hitler that we’ve never seen. The people really love him too, it’s not that they’re frightened to say they don’t but everyone obviously adores him. I’m sending a few pictures of him as I’m sure it’ll give you a different idea of the man. For myself, I’m completely in love with him! [this is NOT a view my grandmother now holds, however, it shows how effective the propoganda was at the time, a comparison she makes is “he was always photographed with children, just like that Diana woman…“] I bought another newspaper today, it looks about the best I’ve seen yet for olympic pictures and I’m posting it to you. I was cashing a cheque this am and the man in the bank gave me it to look at so I bought one for myself when I went out to send to you. I have a big 1/ magazine with pictures but I think I’ll bring it with me incase it gets spoiled. With best love from Helen.

  7. I’m amazed, I have to admit. Rarely do I encounter a blog that’s both equally
educative and interesting, and without a doubt, you’ve hit the
nail on the head. The problem is an issue that too few people are speaking intelligently about.
I’m very happy I found this in my search for something regarding this.

  8. I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own
blog and was wondering what all is required to get setup?
I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny?

I’m not very web savvy so I’m not 100% certain. Any
tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

  12. Unquestionably believe that which you stated. Your
favorite justification appeared to be on the net the simplest thing to be
aware of. I say to you, I definitely get annoyed while people consider worries that they just do not
know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top as well as defined out the whole thing without having side effect , people can take a signal.
Will likely be back to get more. Thanks

  13. Today, I went to the beach with my children. I found a sea shell and gave
it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed.
There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back!
LoL I know this is entirely off topic but I had to tell someone!
