Dive Into Digital : Lauderdale Collection

Today I’m bringing you work from two of our BG digital design team members, Kathleen Summers and Mary Rogers.  I challenged them both to create a layout with three specific products from our digital Lauderdale CollectionLAU-D929 patterned paper, LAU-D926 Textures and LAU-D927 Flourishes.  They could use any other product they chose but had to include these three items.

Kathleen chose to use the flower/leaf texture from LAU-D926 Textures.  She colored it, “stickerized” it by using the stroke function in Photoshop Elements, and shadowed it to make it more of an element.  I love how she utilized the LAU-D929 patterned paper as not only a background paper of her layout but also used it by clipping it to the flower brush.  Kathleen notes, “The verigated blue/green colors in the brush were created because of the pattern of the paper!”  Kathleen then tucked the “play time” element from LAU-D927 Flourishes along the left edge of her photo cluster after coloring it green.

The bright photos of the Lauderdale kit coordinate perfectly with Mary’s photos from a recent family event.  She says, “I created a grid for my photos so I could use a lot on the page without it appearing cluttered.   The texture brush was used to add dimension around the photos, and I used a border around the flourish title, applying a shadow to give it depth.”

I hope Mary and Kathleen have inspired you to take a second look at your digital supplies and use them in a different way.  Perhaps you’ve been on the fence about giving digital a try?  In that case, I hope that you’re eager to dive into your first project!
