Basic Card Sketch : 11.19.12

This week’s sketch from BasicGrey sketch artist Susan Stringfellow was created specifically for all of our cardmaking friends.  Don’t make cards?  No problem!  Feel free to use the sketch to create a layout, altered project, or whatever else you’d like.

Joy | Kathy Racoosin

BasicGrey card designer Kathy Racoosin used this week’s sketch to create this amazing holiday themed card.  Kathy notes, “Using a sketch is always a great jump start for me even though my card might be missing some of the sketch’s elements. I decided to use the papers from the 6×6 Aspen Frost collection because it works beautifully with the Serendade 6×6 collection. This is the first time I used the garland and I can’t wait to make some Christmas tags with the beautiful paper mix on the garland. I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered that it had a patterned side and a more of a solid/ stripe mix on the back. The Alphabet stickers from the Serendade collection fit perfectly onto the garland on my card. (I used the INSIDE of the “O” so it would fit on the smaller circle) I added a little distress ink and pop dots to make my sentiment strip of garland stand out.”

Now it’s your turn! We’d love to see what you create from this week’s sketch. Leave a comment below with a link to your project and we’ll select one comment at random to receive a $10 credit to shop at basicgrey.com. Comment must be posted by November 25, 2012 at 11:59p MST.

If you upload your layout to your blog or online gallery, we hope you’ll also upload it to our BasicGrey flickr pool and note what products you’ve used so that other BG fans can find inspiration from your work easily.
