Christmas is tomorrow! This week, so many of us will be celebrating with friends and family but we’re giving you a sketch from BG sketch artist Susan Stringfellow so that if time allows, you can give the gift of creativity to yourself!
Dear Santa | Els Brige
BasicGrey scrapbook designer Els Brige used this week’s sketch to create this holiday appropriate layout. Els notes, “I really loved the sketch with all the different layers and so pretty much followed it as it’s presented here to you. However I incorporated a letter to Santa from my then 2 year old daughter. Back then, she asked me to write the letter for her and spelled out to me what she wanted me to write down. I typed the letter onto a piece of paper to make it fit for my layout. The patterned papers and all the embellishments revive the warmth and cozyness of the season and reflect the overall feel I wanted to incorporate in my layout.”
Santa Baby | Becca Dickson
Digital designer Becca Dickson also used this week’s sketch as inspiration for her layout. Becca says, “I just loved the sketch this month! I’m a big fan of strips to the side and loved the banner across the front. Since it’s December and the sketch had a holiday feel to it, I decided to go with the Blitzen and Dasher collections and scrap a photo from Christmas last year. I like how the reds, greens and blues all tied together even though I used two separate kits. I didn’t have much to journal but I liked the way the journaling spot was on the sketch, so I added a journaling tag even though I didn’t write anything. I think the large photo and lots of elements were just enough to tell the story.”
Now it’s your turn! We’d love to see what you create from this week’s sketch. Leave a comment below with a link to your project and we’ll select one comment at random to receive a $10 credit to shop at basicgrey.com. Comment must be posted by December 30, 2012 at 11:59p MST.
