Hello, everyone – hope you had a great weekend!  Also hope you were able to steal a few minutes to get creative!  It’s Monday, which let’s face it, not many of us are fans of.  The good news?  We’ve got a new scrapbook sketch for you!

This week’s sketch is based on this layout from BG design team member, Keisha Campbell.  I love how she was able to create a layout so true to her personal style and put BasicGrey products to work for her and not the other way around.  (I’m also thinking I need to snag a few doilies to work with – love her tone on tone background!)

This week’s sketch features a filmstrip of three photos, a large block suitable for journaling and a charming banner to hold embellishments.  Remember, this sketch is for you to interpret as you wish!  Feel free to follow it exactly or flip it, rotate it or let it simply inspire you in one way or another.

Looking for more inspiration to participate in this week’s sketch challenge?  Never fear!  With our new design team just announced on Friday, I put them to work over the weekend creating their takes on this sketch as well.

Back To School | Larissa Albernaz

SUPPLIES : [OXFORD] OXF-3360 Rowing, OXF-3372 University, OXF-3369 Magna Cum Laude, OXF-3357 Ivy League, OXF-3373 Preppy Plaid, OXF-3368 Deans List, OXF-3366 Alma Mater, OXF-3377 Element Stickers, OXF-3388 Chip Sticker Shapes, OXF-3389 Olio Rubon Book, OXF-3390 Woolies, OXF-3391 Layered Stickers, [WANDER] WAN-2294 Chip Stickers ABCs.

What a difference a different color scheme makes!  At first glance, you might not realize that design team member Larissa Albernaz used to create this layout.  She says, “I created my layout by using the sketch as an inspiration. It´s such an awesome sketch that I didn´t want to change much. I just have used two photos instead of the three proposed and have used some triangles cutouts from the Oxford Magna Cum Laude paper instead of the flowers.”

Isla Mujeres | Layle Koncar

SUPPLIES : [WANDER] WAN-2962 Gridlock, WAN-2968 Vroom, WAN-2969 Arrival, WAN-2979 Lost Luggage, WAN-2982 Sticker Elements, WAN-2993 Chip Sticker Shapes, WAN-3022 Die Cut Shapes Pieces, WAN-3013 – Doilies Stop Go, [BASICS] BAS-2548 Booknote, BAS-2578 Mini Mono Stickers, BAS-2571 Label Stickers.

BG design team member Layle Koncar followed the sketch exactly as drawn except for the large floral embellishements.  “I have mostly males in my life with my hubby and two sons, so I always look for ways to convert flowers to other elements, so here I used circles in place of the flowers,” she says.  “Doilies are one of my favorite BasicGrey products for their versatility, and I LOVE this Wander Doilie!  I cut it into a strip to use as a border under the photo strip.”

Cousins | Nancy Burke

SUPPLIES : [OUT OF PRINT] OUT-3316 Etchings, OUT-3325 Tribune, OUT-3329 Impasto, OUT-3328 Daily News, [OXFORD] OXF-3365 Letterman’s Jacket, OXF-3360 Rowing, [HELLO LUSCIOUS] HLO-3238 Rosemary, HLO-3243 Radish, HLO-3247 Sticker Alphabet, [LIFE OF THE PARTY] LOP-3140 Popcorn Poppin’ [BASICS] BAS-2600 Jargon, [CURIO] CUR-3031 General Store, [MARJOLAINE] MRJ-2952 Bloomers, [WANDER] WAN-3008 Bloomers, [CUPCAKE] CUP-1183 Sticker Alphabet, [SCARLET'S LETTER] Sticker Alphabet, [PHOEBE] Sticker Alphabet.

This layout created by design team member Nancy Burke also follows the sketch quite closely.  It also illustrates again that by simply using a brighter background color, her layout takes on a life of it’s own and sets itself apart from Keisha’s.

Nancy says, “I followed the sketch very closely, but I created my own version of two of the flowers by adding torn and sanded circles of patterned paper. I created the look of large buttons by cutting out circles from the patterned paper, punching four small holes in the center, and threading them with twine.”

So how about all of that inspiration to start your week?!  We’d love to see what you create from this week’s sketch. Leave a comment below with a link to your layout and we’ll select one commenter at random to receive a collection pack of your choice. Comment must be posted by September 25, 2011 at 11:59p MST.

If you upload your layout to your blog or online gallery, be sure to also upload it to our new BasicGrey Flickr page so that other BG fans can find your work easily.
