Happy Monday! This week we’ve got a sketch from BG sketch artist Valerie Salmon that includes plenty of space to dress up a square photo.
Best Friends Forever | Marinette Lesne
Design team member Marinette Lesne was the first to tackle this week’s sketch. Marinette says, “I have to admit that I’m not comfortable with sketches but when I received this gorgeous sketch for my next assignment I was very happy because I knew it would allow me to step out of my comfort zone. For this sketch I was inspired by two elements: the black horizontal strip paper and the banner below . So I chose to focus on these two elements to make my layout. I used papers and embellishments from the Clippings line. I’m just in love with the pattern and the colors of this line. And what’s in the Clippings line? Garlands! So I used one on my layout. I used a black strip of torn paper to contrast with the soft colors of my layout. As you can see, I’m not very close of the sketch but that’s what I love in sketches: to be free to interpret it in its own way.”
Sleep | Els Brige
BG Design team member Els Brige also used our Clippings collection paired with this week’s sketch. Els notes, “I pretty much followed the sketch as presented this time and chose to work with the Clippings collection. I was dying to use a string of the Garlands for this layout, and stapled it to place at both sides of the layout. I added some elements to it with a wooden button, a wax seal and some stickers. My title is sitting on a part of the Snippets. The chipboard Scrabble tiles fitted the colors and feel of this layout perfectly.”
Now it’s your turn! We’d love to see what you create from this week’s sketch. Leave a comment below with a link to your project and we’ll select one comment at random to receive a $10 credit to shop at basicgrey.com. Comment must be posted by September 9, 2012 at 11:59p MST.

I am using various supplies I have been collecting for when I had the time to scrapbook. Your sketches are helping me to dig in my piles and use what I have been cherishing for way too long. Thank you Kim
Awesome sketch!
Here’s my take on it. I used products from the Max & Whiskers Collection:

Hi, guess I really need to make my pages sooner instead of creating them at the last minute 8)
Was fun though, as soon as I saw the sketch, I got this idea to make the filefolder into a camera, just took me some time to find the right picture to complete the layout.
