  1. Congrats everyone!

Ooooo…not good, BG! Layle has already admitted on her blog that she was asked earlier this month to be your team. It’s very discouraging to see DT calls and then find out the list was picked earlier.

    Bummer.

  2. even though I’m not on the list….I LOVE the fact there are some unknowns (to me at least)….BG is doing another thing right by showcasing the newly seen talent! I agree with Heather above though….very discouraging to those that applied and then find out someone was “asked” to be on the team…..

    • djp- I can’t speak for anyone else, but I have been a contract designer with BG for over 5 years (meaning I made show samples and other special projects). I applied just like everyone else. I was not invited or automatically placed on the team.

      • thanks for the information; it was just confusing see that….i am SO excited to see the work of these people….i’ve already checked outthe blogs and can’t wait to see more!

    • Hi DJP –

I want to assure you there was no funny business going on! Even though I’ve worked formally and informally for BasicGrey for more than 2 years, I sent in a formal application like everyone else. When I say I was asked earlier this month, Melanie called me last weekend, I assume at the same time she called the rest of the ladies that made the team.

Sorry for any confusion, I wouldn’t want anyone to feel bad!

    • I think it is natural for those of us who didn’t make the team to wonder what we could have done differently. You have to understand that there were a limited number of design team spots and there were hundreds of very talented people apply. Even if there were 100 equally talented people apply, they still had to limit the number of designers. Teams have to be kept to a manageable number.
Please don’t feel like you failed or your work isn’t worthy. It may have just been a numbers thing.
      Think positive! :)

      Hugs,
      True :D

      • I think the least they could do is provide some feedback, since some of us worked for weeks on this and it seems like the DT was selected pretty quickly after the submission deadline. I spent more than two days on my application!

        • I’m so sorry we can’t give feedback to each person. :(

There were hundreds of applications and about 6 of us going through each one. It was a long arduous task. Believe me, this decision was not made in haste.

          • Kristina,
I know you all had your work cut out for you when going through that many submissions. Thanks for all of the work you put into it. I have checked in on the new teams blogs and there is not a single person on there that doesn’t deserve it.
I applied too and while I would have loved to have made the team, I’m not upset with the process. I have been on the other side of it to and picking teams really isn’t fun. There will always be people disappointed and wondering why they didn’t make it.
You picked an awesome team and I look froward to seeing what they create.
            Great job BG girls! :)

            Hugs,
            True :D

  3. Such an amazing team!!!
Huge congrats talented ladies! Special congrats to my friend Marinette, i am so so glad for you, you so deserve it!

  4. Congrats to all the ladies who made the team. Just a little friendly warning, Pamela Young was over at the smack blog the other day, where she outed herself. This was right after someone posted that they made the BG. Just watch your backs. Peace and love, Katie

  5. Congrats! what an amzing list of ladies a special shoutout to Lari!!!!!
Wohooo girl you know you rock any papers!!!
But no Kelly Goree or Nic Howard on the list?????!!!!
Does this mean that they will no longer create for Basic Grey? I will miss them so much i have always admired there creations.. They sort of are Basic Grey to me.. =)

    • What a lovely comment to see! Thanks Malin! I’ve just come home from teaching in South Africa for BasicGrey and I’ve been an informal designer within the company for over 4 years. BasicGrey has been part of my scrapbooking for many, many years now. Although I didn’t apply for the team, it doesn’t mean things finish there, I’ll continue to showcase their products where I can!

  6. THANK YOU for making my dream come true!!!! I am absolutely humbled and flattered to have been chosen to be a part of this team!!! I am greatly looking forward to working with all of these amazing designers!! Feeling very, very blessed. thank you.
