BasicGrey Altered : Paper Wrapped Frame

Wrapped Frame | Lisa Storms

I have seen beautiful fabric wrapped frames and figured why not create the same effect using paper. With all of BasicGrey’s gorgeous patterns and colors, you can easily create a stunning frame.

Begin with a flat frame and an assortment of BasicGrey papers.

Cut the papers into half inch strips with a paper trimmer, add adhesive to the back using a tape runner, and wrap around frame in sections. Add a small piece of tape at the beginning and end of each strip if needed for security. You’ll want to make sure you always switch between strips at the back where that transition will be hidden.

If you want to insert the glass back into the frame to be fully functional, you will need to crease the strips into the angle along the back with each wrap as you go along. This leaves a place for the glass to fit back into the frame.

Wrap the corners individually before wrapping with strips. Cut a rectangle wide enough to cover the sides, front, and interior lip. Fold in half and adhere to the frame as shown. Cut the center down along the fold to the frame and fold over one side. Cut the overhang to fold inside. Repeat with the other flap as shown.

Once the corners and frame are wrapped, you can go back and add an angled strip on each side of the corner to blend the sides and corners together better.

Fill with a cherished photo and enjoy!

  1. Darling frame! Love the way you can personalize it to your decor—not to mention use up some of that patterned paper stash we all have!
