A new month brings a new theme for our flickr pool challenge and we hope you’ll be a part of it!
Each month, we provide a theme for you to use on your projects and then ask you to upload them to our flickr pool. At the end of each month, we’ll select a few of our favorites to post here on our blog and send them some BasicGrey goodies as our way of saying thanks. Sound good? You’re free to create any project you’d like – a card, a layout, an altered piece, a mini album – whatever you’d like! You’re also able to incorporate the monthly theme into projects that you upload for our sketch series or any other challenges.
And now for the details…
The theme for this month is “doilies”. Our newly released Paper Cottage collection contains several of this vintage item. How will you include one on your next project?
Puffrect | Jessy Christopher
We also issued this challenge to a handful of our design team members. Jessy Christopher created this of her and her cat and notes, “I love using doilies especially working with bold colors, just to create the subtle look. On my layout, I used 3 different sized doilies and it worked so well. Doilies are perfect for layering photos/papers. When I wanna create a fast layout, chipboard and 6×6 pad are the products that work best for me. You should try too!”
Daily | Lady Grace Belarmino
Lady Grace Belarmino also accepted the flickr Friend challenge this month. She explains, “I have hundreds of doilies in different sizes and shapes. I fell in love with doilies a few years back when I saw an online baking store selling them in bulk for a few dollars. I am not a baker but I am a scrapbooker and I knew that it will be a perfect embellishment on layouts and cards. On my page, I ruffled the doilies in layers so that it would look like a flower-like embellishment.”
Beautiful | Kathleen Summers
Digital design team member Kathleen Summers also created a project using this month’s theme. Kathleen says, “I wanted to make a whimsical and feminine page with these recent photos of my youngest daughter. The doily adds to the femininity of the page and it is used as a journaler for the date and is clustered together with other dimensional elements.”
A Favorite Photo | Nicole Samuels
Last but not least, design team member Nicole Samuels used our Plumeria collection for her take on this month’s theme. Nicole comments, “I decided to make a background with 2 different sized doilies to give this simple page an understated texture. I just layered the doilies randomly over a piece of white cardstock and then trimmed the paper to size.”
Now it’s your turn! Upload your projects to our BasicGrey flickr pool, making sure to tag it with our monthly theme “712doilies” so that we can find it easily. Projects must be uploaded by July 30, 2012 at 11:59p MST.
