Get ready for date night by sewing up this envelope style wristlet using BasicGrey’s latest fabric line, Little Black Dress. I was inspired by not only the fabrics themselves but by the name “Little Black Dress” to design an accessory for your little black dress. Envelope clutches are all the rage but I find them too large for my taste. I decided to come up with a mini version–the Little Black Dress Envelope Wristlet.
It measures 5″ high x 8″ wide, closes with a magnetic snap, has an inner pocket for items you don’t want to have to search for, and a wristlet strap.
The flap is designed to look like an envelope, using the same fabric as the bag body on the outer sections, and contrasting prints for the inner sections. It is paper pieced but it is a breeze–the perfect introduction to paper piecing for beginners. If you have not paper pieced before, just google “paper piecing” for some general how tos and you are ready to begin. I embellished the flap with one of BasicGrey’s gorgeous buttons.
