Basic Scrapbook Sketch : 6.4.12

It’s our first sketch of the month and we couldn’t think of a better time to introduce one of our new sketch artists, Susan Stringfellow.  You’ll be seeing more of Susan’s sketch on the BG blog as she inspires not only you but our design team with her work.  Welcome, Susan!

This week’s sketch is for a single page, two photo layout but feel free to simply use it as a jumping point for your next project.  Whether you follow it exactly as outlined or use it to create a two page spread or as the title page of a mini album, we can’t wait to see what you create!

Wonderful Day | Lady Grace Belarmino

This week we have two layouts to share from our design team using this sketch.  The first is from BasicGrey design team member Lady Grace Belarmino.  She notes, “Sketches are always my go-to when I need immediate inspiration. For my layout, I decided to rotate the sketch to accommodate the portrait photos that I have. These photos were post edited using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom so that I can get the purple hues that I wanted. I have used the beautiful Plumeria collection because I am in love with the soft tones of purple that is in this collection.”

I Believe I Can Fly | Marinette Lesne

Design team member Marinette Lesne also used this week’s sketch to create this stunning layout.  Marinette explains, “When I saw the sketch I was immediately inspired by the clouds on the top.T hen I had in mind a picture of my son Quentin running on the beach last summer. And what better than What’s Up collection for made a layout about summer holidays? For this layout I decided to use small pictures to allow more place for papers. The colors of this collection are perfect to match with my pictures because they are very soft and I wanted to bring a lot of sweetness on my layout.  I choose to use flowers from the elements stickers as the focus of my embellishment clustering on the right of my page.”

Now it’s your turn! We’d love to see what you create from this week’s sketch. Leave a comment below with a link to your project and we’ll select one comment at random to receive a collection pack of your choice. Comment must be posted by June 10, 2012 at 11:59p MST.

If you upload your layout to your blog or online gallery, we hope you’ll also upload it to our BasicGrey flickr pool and note what products you’ve used so that other BG fans can find inspiration from your work easily.

  1. Great sketch! I was wondering when the winners to all your challenges get announced? There were several from last month that have been over for a while and don’t have winners posted. Is there somewhere else we are supposed to look?

    • Hi, Louise!

Let me take a look! All winners are posted on the original blog threads so that’s where you can always find them. At times we wait and post a large batch at once. :)

  2. Oh I just LOVE Susan’s sketches! She is incredibly talented! This sketch is so fun and summery. I need to find time to try and do this challenge.

    • Very cool page!! Fun to see a familiar place!!! I have been up to the North Shore from Duluth to the Canada border along Lake Superior every year for the past 17 years almost. We love that spot and the Temperance River, Gooseberry Falls.
