National Scrapbooking Day 2012 : Template Challenge

Senior Prom | Mary Rogers

CHALLENGE : Use a BasicGrey template as inspiration for your layout.

BasicGrey has several digital templates to help paper crafters create scrapbook layouts, cards and even calendars.  If you’re a digital crafter, these templates make creating a project easy by simply dropping in photos and your favorite digital products.  Not a digital crafter?  No worries – you can use templates just as you would a sketch!

BasicGrey digital design team member Mary Rogers created the layout above using two BG templates.  She says, “I couldn’t wait to scrap my son Hayden and his girlfriend Abby’s Senior Prom photos.  The Two Scoops collection was the perfect match!  I wanted to use the  I Love You Because template, but don’t scrap 8-1/2×11, so I merged both templates to make it my own.  I duplicated the photo template from the left side of the template and place it on my rotated right side.  I reduced the journaling box and removed the lines.  After resizing and placing my photos, I added the color rubs, heart element and button.  Finally I added my title, and placed a drop shadow around it to give it more depth.”

Spring Fever | Iris Baboa Uy

BG design team member Iris Baboa Uy also used one of our templates as the inspiration for this layout.  Iris explains, “I loved the fun linear look of this template. To make it fit my style more, I used linear lines and stickers instead of the numbered items, and used one photo only. In place of the squares, I added strips of word stickers, some stamping, and hand-cut elements from patterned paper as well as layered stickers.”

The Difference | Pamela Young

Need more proof that our templates can provide you with the inspiration you need?  BasicGrey design team member Pamela Young used a template as the starting point for this layout.  Pamela explains, “I found several of the templates very inspiring, but I kept coming back to this very familiar and fun template here.  I used my 6×6 pad of What’s Up paper and cut squares and used the template as my background design, then added a couple photos, a few embellishments and my title and journaling.  It’s funny because I look at the layout and it completely reminds me of all those packs of BasicGrey papers I have bought over the years.”

We can’t wait to see what you create for this challenge! Leave a comment below with a link to your project and we’ll select one commenter at random to receive a $25 gift certificate to shop at basicgrey.comComment must be posted by May 11, 2012 at 11:59p MST.

If you upload your layout to your blog or online gallery, be sure to also upload it to our new BasicGrey flickr page so that other BG fans can find your work easily.

  1. She cited the wrongful release as a veritable ‘form of terrorism’ and little more than ‘artistic rape.
Regular maintenance will help you to extend the life of the equipment.
It is the ultimate copy protection tool for your media files.

Here is my web site; march 2015

  2. Today, while I was at work, my cousin stole my iphone and tested to see if
it can survive a thirty foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My iPad is
now destroyed and she has 83 views. I know this is totally off topic but I had to share it with someone!

  3. Hmm is anyone else having problems with the images on this blog loading?
I’m trying to figure out if its a problem
on my end or if it’s the blog. Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

  4. I’m amazed, I must say. Seldom do I encounter a blog that’s both educative and interesting, and without
a doubt, you’ve hit the nail on the head.
The issue is something that not enough men and women are speaking intelligently about.
I’m very happy that I stumbled across this during my hunt for something relating
    to this.
