Basic Scrapbook Sketch : 4.9.12

Too Cute 4 Words | Els Brige

Happy Monday, BasicGrey fans!  We hope you had a great weekend and found a few minutes to create.  We’re kicking off the week with a sketch based on this layout from BasicGrey design team member Els Brige.  I love that horizontal strip of photos paired with the large embellishment in the upper left corner.

Els notes, “I created a layout with a pretty easy sketch for this weeks challenge. There’s a row of three smaller pictures with a mat and some additional layers added to it on the lower part of the layout. And on the other hand there’s this simple butterfly focal point in the top left corner to balance out the layout.”

She continues, “I had a lot of fun creating this layout. While I had a monochromatic layout in mind using the Little Black Dress collection, it is amazing to see how just a little pop of color can make this page really interesting. I chose to repeat the colors of the small floral paper and added a dash of pink (and even some orange) here and there. Eventually I used elements from three different collections for this layout. They mix and match perfectly together.”

This sketch features space for three smaller horizontal photos surrounded by layers of paper and embellishments but feel free to be inspired however you’d like!

We’d love to see what you create from this week’s sketch. Leave a comment below with a link to your project and we’ll select one commenter at random to receive a collection pack of your choice. Comment must be posted by April 15, 2012 at 11:59p MST.

If you upload your layout to your blog or online gallery, we hope you’ll also upload it to our BasicGrey flickr pool so that other BG fans can find inspiration from your work easily.
