Basic Scrapbook Sketch : 3.26.12

An Extension of My Happiness | Danielle Flanders

It’s the last Monday of the month which also means it’s the last sketch for March.  How is that possible?  With time flying by so fast, we’re here to help you complete a scrapbook layout this week by providing you a starting point.  Simply grab your photos and favorite product and you’ll be done in no time!

Today’s sketch is based on this layout from our March guest designer, Danielle Flanders.  We love her use of embellishments from our new Plumeria collection!  Even with her use of multiple embellishments, her use of white space still draws your eye directly to her photo.

Although the sketch uses a single photo, feel free to make it your own by simply using it as a starting point when you get ready to work.  Perhaps you’ll use a stack of two horizontal photos, a collage of mini photos or even a piece of memorabilia in that space – the decision is yours!

We’d love to see what you create from this week’s sketch. Leave a comment below with a link to your project and we’ll select one commenter at random to receive a collection pack of your choice. Comment must be posted by April 1, 2012 at 11:59p MST.

If you upload your layout to your blog or online gallery, we hope you’ll also upload it to our BasicGrey flickr pool so that other BG fans can find inspiration from your work easily.

Beautiful sketch! I was so inspired very quickly! I used the Ambrosia collection for my page. An oldie, but still a great one! Thanks for the great sketch!

  1. Thanks for the challenge. Beautiful layout!
PS Is there a way to find out who won the challenge for Kathleen Summer’s challenge…about scrapbooking a thing? I never saw who won…unless I am just not looking in the right place!? Thanks

    • Ironically, Jennifer – it was you! The winner was posted on the original challenge post. :)

  2. When I saw this sketch, I knew that it would be perfect for the layout I made. I think it turned out to be one of my best ones yet! I used the Konnichiwa line which I love because of the cherry trees. I grew up in the DC metro area and spring was always my favorite time of year because of these beautiful trees. Thanks for helping make one of my favorite pages.
