Memories of August | Iris Baboa Uy
SUPPLIES : [HELLO LUSCIOUS] C-HLO-3244 Hello Luscious Collection Pack, HLO-3263 Hello Luscious Fabric Flowers, [ESKIMO KISSES] ESK-2018 Eskimo Kisses Doilies.Hello and Happy Monday! I hope you were able to find a few minutes to create this weekend. Today we’re ready to jumpstart your week with a sketch. Simply pull out your photos and use it as a starting point for your next scrapbook layout or card. No guesswork involved!
Today’s sketched is based on this layout by BasicGrey design team member Iris Baboa Uy. Iris notes, “This is another example of how easy it is to mix different collections of BasicGrey. The doily paper used here was actually from the Eskimo Kisses collection, while the papers and fabric flowers are from Hello Luscious. I went a little further and added a canvas tag from Origins and a chipboard butterfly from Green At Heart!”
This sketch has space for three photos but as always, feel free to make it your own! Flip it, rotate it – whatever works best for YOU!
Tradition | Layle Koncar
For added inspiration, I also asked design team member Layle Koncar to create a layout from this week’s sketch. Layle notes, “I’ve been itching to put Kissing Booth to use, such a fun collection – a New Year’s Eve chocolate fondue party presented itself as the perfect opportunity to use it! Iris’ layout was beautiful inspiration for my layout. I’m a proverbial ‘single photo’ scrapper, so her sketch prompted me to step outside of my box and use 3 photos vs. my usual 1. I turned the sketch on it’s side, creating a vertical strip with photos to mimic her horizontal strip. I carried the look of the doilie on her layout into my layout by using the fun flower circle sticker. You’d never look at our two layouts side by side and know they were created from the same sketch, but that’s exactly why I love working from sketches – they’re so open to interpretation!”
Day One of Preschool | Melanie Bauer
I’m of the mindset that I should practice what I preach and so this year, I’m hoping to create a layout of my own based on each week’s sketch. There’s no easier way to insure you scrapbook each week! I usually use typical sized photos on my layout so instead of three smaller photos as in the sketch, I used one 5×7 and one 4×6 and shifted their placement. I also really loved the strong horizontal band across the middle of Iris’ layout as well as her title placement so I mimicked both in my layout. I loved being able to use the new smaller alphabet stickers from Kissing Booth in my title. I have a feeling I’ll be needing more soon!
We’d love to see what you create from this week’s sketch. Leave a comment below with a link to your project and we’ll select one commenter at random to receive a collection pack of your choice. Comment must be posted by January 15, 2012 at 11:59p MST.
If you upload your layout to your blog or online gallery, be sure to also upload it to our BasicGrey flickr pool so that other BG fans can find your work easily.
