Today Waleska Neris is here to share how she mixed Carte Postale, Hipster, Mint Julep, and Capture together to create one amazing album!
Waleska: When deciding on a specific theme I realized that while we don’t travel much, we are very lucky to live in a vacation destination so I selected a few fave picture of the places we go often and do a “destination home” album.
The California die-cut was made from Carte Postale’s Sunset Blvd paper and popped up with dimensional adhesive to create additional visual interest. The small chipboard geotag is also from Carte Postale and acts as the perfect marker of “home.”
Even though these journals are spiral bound, with a small hole-punch, photos can be added to the binding in a snap! The journaling card on the right page came from the Carte Postale Snippets pad and was run through a typewriter to document our top five destinations.
Adding in untraditional memorabilia (like the seashell!) is a great way to make these books your own.
The wood veneers add a playful, dimensional touch to an otherwise plain grid sheet of paper. The blue chipboard alphas come from Mint Julep and are so easy to use as well!

As someone who eats / sleeps / breathes thrifting adventures, it was only a matter of time before I documented my new favorite hobby in Capture form!
I decided to go with the 5×7″ spiral bound ledger journal since the color palette and small scale fit the vision for my theme perfectly.
For the cover, I used a handful of mini embellishments, including labels and arrows, brass studs, and a scalloped frame from the Carte Postale waterfall pack.
One of my favorite parts about the Ledger album is all of the fun journaling prompts that it contains! On the left page of this particular spread, I was able to jot down the items I seek out whenever I go thrifting. As obvious as it may seem, I’m not sure I would have recorded such facts without the help of the prompt!
I love the way that arrows add dynamism and direction to any layout, so for the left page, I turned an acetate frame die-cut upside down and tucked it behind the Snippet. A little piece of advice: don’t be afraid to flip things around and try out techniques that take products beyond their intended use. Scrapbooking is all about experimentation and documenting memories your way.
Dare I say that Candy Buttons are my favorite BG embellishment? I can’t seem to make a page (no matter how small!) without them! They’re the perfect mini pop of color for any project, especially when grouped in a visual triangle.
To maximize these fun little pockets (and clean out my wallet!), I tucked a bunch of receipts from my various shopping trips in them and quickly embellished the front with an arrow and a few alpha stickers. Simple is often best. Don’t overthink it, my friends.
P.S. Capture products are officially in stock! Time to get creating!

Today we are so fortunate to have the super talented Alexes Brown here to share two beautiful layouts she made using Carte Postale! Here’s what she has to say:
Alexes: Hey Guys! It’s Alexes Brown and I’m really excited to be here on the BasicGrey Blog! I’m not going to lie, it’s kind of a dream come true! When Shara invited me to work with the Carte Postale line, I was thrilled and I’m here today to show you what I created. I usually don’t work with 8 1/2 x 11 but I thought I would try something new and lemme tell you, it was a blast! I’m a huge proponent of changing up the size your normally scrap with because it lets you be creative in a completely different way and it also keeps you from getting bored!
I really liked playing around with the grid format I used. All I did was slap my picture down and started creating different rows with all kinds of different embellishments. Super easy and I absolutely love the look of the colors with the kraft paper!
I left some room for journaling and then I was finished! I really love the way this page turned out! The Carte Postale line is perfect for traveling but it also lends itself very well to lifestyle scrapbooking.
For my second layout, I really wanted to try a new technique and as I was browsing through Pinterest I kept noticing all of the die cut pages with pattered paper behind and I thought I’d give it a try!
In my silhouette I took a star shape, made it a bunch of different sizes and then just started placing them in different areas on my page.
I picked out some of my very favorite papers from the Carte Postale line to use behind. After I had everything situated I glued my scraps down behind each star. I thought it needed a little extra texture so I took my sewing machine and stitched around my three biggest stars and voila! Thanks for stopping by!! Now go cut up some paper!
