What A Week : BasicGrey + Kelly Purkey Stamps

Welcome to another installment of our What A Week blog series!  This month, we’ve asked Kelly Purkey to join us as we pair her stamps with our Serenade collection.  She and I have each created a layout documenting a week in our lives using the same products.  We’ll also be giving you a chance to win the same products for use on your own weekly layout!

This month, I chose to document the 40th week of this year – just a few weeks ago!  I’m actually two plus months behind on documenting our weeks this year so I love that this week really documents what my life is currently like right now.

[Left Page] Four month well baby check-up.  The Met Life blimp.  PreK craft project.  Story time nametag.  Afternoon bike ride.  Monthly photo of all three kiddos.  A favorite toy.

Kelly’s October stamp is the reason why I skipped ahead to document a more current week in my album.  This stamp is also perfect to document your life in July 2013 – yes, I checked.  Simply cover the October with stickers and you’ve got the perfect calendar for that month as well!

My four year old’s handwriting is an ever evolving masterpiece.  I wanted to include her name tag from storytime this week and easily did so by simply trimming a sheet of paper from the Serenade 6×6 Paper Pad to fit this pocket and creatively cropping the name tag itself.

Kelly’s Magic stamp was the perfect match for this photo of my daughter riding her bike under these bright autumn leaves.  I actually used the stamp on the back of tag that was tied around the stamp’s handle.  A great repurpose of product packaging!

[Right Page] Craft time after breakfast.  A walk on the trail.  Post-nap snuggles.  4 month photoshoot.  Date night.  Our weekly Target trip.  Tiger fans.

I love using stamps for my weekly layouts as they’re so easy to customize.  Kelly’s Field Notes stamp and a strip of paper provided the perfect embellishment for this photo.

I love the Serenade alphabet stickers and how three different alphas are included on a single sheet.  I paired one sticker with a sticker from the Serenade Titles stickers for an easy embellishment for my son’s monthly photo.

Kelly’s Happiness Right Here stamp was the perfect choice paired with a business card of a new restaurant my husband and I tried on a date night.

Extra Inspiration : Fact & Fiction

You + Me | Waleska Neris

With our Fact & Fiction collection about to hit the store shelves at many Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores, we wanted to share additional projects from our design team using this new line.

BasicGrey scrapbook designer Waleska Neris used Fact & Fiction for this argyle styled layout.  She notes, “As soon as I saw this collection I fell in love. The bold, bright colors and patterns are very me. I especially love the Fact pad, which works wonderfully for scrapping my boys. I also love all the super fun and different embellishments included. I did lots of layering because I needed to use lots of them! This is truly one of my favorite BG collections.”

You and Me | Shari Carroll

BG card designer Shari Carroll loved this new collection so much she chose to show it off by making not one, but two amazing cards.  Shari says, “Fact and Fiction is one of those collections that has everything!  I had a hard time choosing what I wanted to design with…so many choices!  I love that you can mix many styles and colors together from this one set… from soft oranges to bold reds, blues and black. Fabulous!”

Family | Jana Eubank

Scrapbook designer Jana Eubank loved working with our newest collection.  Jana says,  ”I adore the look of lots of layers on my layouts. BasicGrey makes it easy to get that layered look when you add your photos to one of their patterned papers containing a pre-printed page design. I used the paper with a polaroid photo printed on it. It even has some fun blanket stitching! The Fiction collection also comes with more papers that appear to have layered borders across one edge. These types of papers are great page starters! Add your photos, your journaling, a title, and a few embellishments and you are ready to go!”

Sisters | Jana Eubank

Jana continues, “I adore the colors and patterns of the Fiction papers. With all the different options available you can mix and match the papers in this collection to scrapbook practically ANY occasion. For this page, I pulled out the pinks, greens, oranges, and blues to scrap these photos of my two youngest daughters together. I added a few die cuts and flags to the page, tucking them behind the photos in a few places for even more layered fun!”

Words From Her Soul | Jana Eubank

Jana also notes, “I love the images contained in the Designer Chipboard Stickers. My daughter is constantly writing stories and poems, and so I just HAD to create a page about her talent using the cute, chipboard pen and pencil in this set. I also added a few butterflies to show how free-spirited her creativity and imagination can be while she is writing. Another favorite product from this collection are the Tape Strips. They come in so many great patterns and colors and are the perfect final touch to marrying multiple layers together in a page design.”

Happy Birthday | Kelly Rasmussen

BG card designer Kelly Rasmussen used this new collection to create this gorgeous card.  Kelly says, “This collection is one that I know I will be pulling out time and time again. It has so many wonderful basic patterns and the colors are some of my favorites. I typically tend to used patterned papers from 6×6 paper pads for my cards because the smaller scale is easier to work with. However, the 12×12 paper pad in this line is an exception — it has quite a few smaller prints and I found that they worked awesome for my cards. In fact, all the  papers on my card today are from the 12×12 paper pad! And one of my favorite embellishments from the line are the garlands. I love that they are double-sided with a different print on each side so you have more options to choose from.”

Do Good & Be Kind | Shannon Tidwell

Last but not leas, BasicGrey scrapbook designer Shannon Tidwell mixed Fact & Fiction together for this layout about her son.  Shannon comments, “It’s a fact, I love this new Collection from BasicGrey! The mix of bright colors with neutral office patterns…oh my! I had a lot of trouble deciding which papers and embellishments to use because I wanted to use them all…and I wanted to hoard them at the same time. There are so many fun little pieces to this collection. One that really caught my eye was the dimensional flags, some are folded to pop off your page! So many fun textures to combine & play with!”
