BasicGrey Altered : Holiday Wreath

Holiday Wreath | Erikia Ghumm

SUPPLIES : [MAX & WHISKERS] MAX-2457, [Hello Luscious] HLO-3231, [NOOK & PANTRY] NAP-2056, [OLIVIA] VIA-2655, [OLIVER] VER-2704, [JOVIAL] JOV-2799, JOV-2798, JOV-2816, [PICADILLY] PIC-3526, [FIGGY PUDDING] FIG-1000, [CURIO] CUR-3025, CUR-3019, CUR-3038, [BASICS] BAS-2575.
Other : vintage tinsel, foam-board, craft glue.

Who wouldn’t want this gorgeous piece of decor adorning their home this holiday season?  Yeah, me too!  A great way to put that paper stash of yours to work, don’t you think?

Cut red papers into 5 inch squares. For a 13 inch wreath, you’ll need 29 squares.

Roll squares into cones and secure the end of the paper with craft glue.

Cut a 6 inch circle out of foam-board and glue on the cones so they are touching each other. It may help to lay all the cones out first and then glue them on.

Your wreath will look like this after the first layer is finished.

For second layer, cut teal papers into 4 inch squares. You’ll need 24 squares to make an 11 inch wreath. Roll the squares into cones, glue and adhere to a 4 ½ inch circle out of foam-board.

Layer stickers to create a greeting, mat with paper and back with foam-board. Finish by edging with vintage tinsel.

Glue all three layers of the wreath together. It may help to build up the center of each layer with additional foam-board.

Hang with wire hidden on the back or a length of decorative ribbon.

Basic Scrapbook Sketch : 11.28.11

Here it is, our last sketch for the month of November – it’s crazy how fast this year is flying by!  This week’s sketch is based on this two page scrapbook layout created by BasicGrey design team member Georgia Keays.  Lots of layering, lots of photos and lots of room for embellishments.

Georgia says, “I wanted to tell the story of how Eliza just loves being in front of the camera and a two page layout was perfect as it meant I could use a lot of photos. My pictures are all close ups with only a few colours so I could use really loud and busy patterned papers, just perfect for Eliza’s cheek personality . I didn’t want to swamp the layout with a lot of big embellishments so I chose smaller stickers and broke apart the burst flower, using a few of the petals around the page.”

We know many of you love two page layouts so this sketch is perfect for you!  For those of you who tend to scrapbook topics on a single page, feel free to use only one half of the sketch for your project this week.

BasicGrey digital design team member Kathleen Summers also created a layout using this week’s sketch as inspiration.  That adorable subject of Katheen’s layout?  He arrived just 18 days ago!  We’re definitely impressed that not only was she able to find a moment to scrapbook already, but her layout is simply stunning.  Congrats again, Kathleen!
  
Kathleen notes, “I liked the multi-photo aspect of the layout and loved the effect of the layered patterned papers. I kept a similar design reducing it to four photos and one page.”
