On Trend : Aqua and Orange

One of my favorite color combinations this season is Aqua & Orange. Well, actually, Mint and Coral are the trending colors of Spring but I personally prefer the deeper, richer, brighter hues so I put a little twist on it :) These are a few images I recently pinned for inspiration.

For my layout, I mixed different patterns from the the Hello and Hey Boy collections (oranges and aquas, of course!). Circles and stars matched the theme of the layout well, so I punched out the shapes and arranged them on the right side of the page next to a series of silly pictures.

On Trend : Groupings

BasicGrey | On Trend

My favorite decorating trend is definitely groupings. Groupings of anything, but especially artwork. I have them in every room in my house, so I decided to do a layout with one as well. And just like most of the groupings in my house, this layout also appears to be perfectly imperfect – ha! I kind of like it though, so I didn’t fix it.

My decorating board on Pinterest is full of artwork/photo groupings. Here are two of my recent favorites.

And here is my layout inspired by both photos!

On Trend : Stripes

One of the biggest trends on the fashion runways for Spring 2013 is stripes. Wide and bold, or thin and soft, stripes are appearing on everything from dresses to shows to purses. The look can range from whimsical to nautical, casual to elegant, depending on the width, color and direction of the stripes.

Stripes are an easy trend to translate to your scrapbook pages and are appropriate for so many topics. And if you can’t find the perfect striped paper for your project, it’s simple to create your own custom pattern. I’ve used the True Love collection to create this layout, featuring a large striped matte:

I created the matte by cutting various-width strips from the pink, aqua and white grid papers. Then I adhered them diagonally to a 9.5 x 9.5 piece of card stock, trimming off any overhang. Finally, I added some rows of stitching:

I mounted this striped piece on a patterned background that echoed the diagonal striped theme (just on a smaller scale!). I layered my photo and die cut title on top, finishing it off with arrow accents in both chipboard and vellum.

So keep your eyes open for new trends in fashion, decor, and design…it’s amazing how many can easily be showcased on your scrapbook layouts!

On Trend : Triangles

Hi there! It’s Kelly here and today is all about triangles. From home decor to fashion and beauty this is one trend that is popping up everywhere!

So today I decided to bring the triangle trend to my card making. Since the triangle is such a simple shape, it is very easy to create your own trendy elements for your projects.

I pulled out some papers from the Fact and Fiction collection to create a fun border down the side of my card. And there were so many cute papers I pulled out that I decided to make a set of coordinating cards — wouldn’t these be a great Christmas gift!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
